Formentera

Fourth island of the Balearic archipelago, with an area of 82 sq. km (31 sq. miles) and 6.000 inhabitants.
It has three small towns, Sant Francesc de Formentera, the capital of the island, Sant Ferran and El Pilar (La Mola). Other tourist population centres include the port of La Savina, Es Pujols, Es Ca Marí and Es Caló. The most important industry on Formentera is tourism. Here tourists can find peace and quiet, fresh air and beaches with crystal-clear water.Underwater fishing enthusiasts discover an incomparable sea-bed and abundant marine life.

As a result of tourism, agriculture has moved into the background, the fields being farmed only on a family basis.
